What contests will be held at the

Fall Convention?

After two Town Halls, numerous phone calls and emails, and countless face-to-face conversations with JAD members across the district, the JAD Board has deliberated and decided on a new contest format for the near term. Before completely upending a multi-decade contest tradition, the JAD Board proposes a 3-year test period for a new contest format.  This format will be reevaluated again for 2025.  At that time, after reviewing feedback, attendance, and changes in membership numbers, if we feel a modification is necessary, the board reserves the right to repeal this policy or modify it further.

This new contest format encompasses three independent contests: Men's, Women's, and Open Class.  Each category will have a winner, and the highest overall score will be named JAD Quartet Grand Champion, following the same format used this past spring in the District Chorus Championships. The JAD Quartet Grand Champion will be retired from competing in future JAD District championships, while all other competitors - including winners of other contests - will be eligible to compete again in future District Championships.

Competing groups may sign-up for whichever contest they choose during registration via Barberscore.  Individuals are not required to share their gender; the group simply chooses which contest they want to enter using their internal definitions for eligibility per the contest descriptions.
