Apple Corps is the Harmony Education School of the Johnny Appleseed District.
Apple Corps takes place each year in June on the campus of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Apple Corps offers a wide range of courses designed to help develop your singing and performance skills. Classes intended to help front line directors, assistant directors, section leaders and those who want to be musical leaders are also offered each year.
For quartet men, IQT:Kenyon, part of JAD’s Intensive Quartet Training program, gives JAD quartets the chance to receive coaching from some of the best coaches in the Barbershop Harmony Society. IQT:Kenyon is a very affordable and high quality opportunity for your foursome.
In addition to lots of educational experiences, Apple Corps is dedicated to making sure that you have a great time and leave the weekend with your barbershop battery recharged and excited to be back on the risers with your home chapter. There are opportunities for social singing and meeting new friends during our nightly afterglows. You could strut your stuff in the Pick Up Quartet Contest or with our feature quartet in the Sing With The Champs event. The pinnacle of the weekend is the Saturday Big Show with our top quartets, the Alliance, and the Mega Chorus entertaining a packed house!

Lakeside will celebrate the 64th anniversary of the Lakeside Barbershop Quartet Festival at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, August 24, in Hoover Auditorium. This show will be the final Hoover performance of the 2013 Chautauqua summer season.
Barbershop emerged in the U.S. in the early 1900s from African-American music traditions, and went through a revival in the 1940s. The Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) describes barbershop as “four-part, unaccompanied, close-harmony singing with consonant chords, understandable lyrics and easily singable melodies.”
This year, the Lakeside Barbershop Quartet Festival will feature three award-winning groups: The Hall of Fame Chorus, Over Easy and The Franchise.

Fall District Convention/Contest
The District Contest is held in mid-October each year. Its location can change from year to year. What do district winners actually win? Well, the Chorus Champions win the right to represent the district at next year’s international contest and convention. The district Quartet Champs earn the title, the admiration of everyone in the district, and bragging rights for a year. But the district quartet championship has nothing to do with determining the quartets that represent the district at next year’s international contest. That’s accomplished at another JAD contest, the “Spring Prelims.” Finally, the highest-scoring Senior Quartetat the District Contest will represent JAD at the Midwinter Convention.

Come join us for an evening of music and fun to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
The Keystone Chorus and our Chapter Quartets will be performing special songs honoring our hobby of Barbershop Harmony.
We will also have a featured quartet which will be announced in the near future.
In addition, to all the great music, you’ll be treated to some tasty desserts and refreshments.

An IQT (Intensive Quartet Training) event is designed to help your quartet be the best that you can be! The event welcomes all types and skill levels of quartets – so whether you’re preparing for JAD Fall contest, your next chapter show, a local gig, or you just sing with your buddies to get the thrill of ringing some chords, IQT:Canton can help you enjoy your quartet experience even more!
IQT:Columbus is a one day event (8:30am – 4:30pm). You’ll receive four coaching sessions and lunch for the very affordable price of $120 per quartet. We have spots open for 12 quartets on a first come, first serve basis.
