Position Description


Creation Authority: District Statement of Policy (SOP) and Standard Society Bylaws

Appointed by: District President

Term: Shall serve until he/she either resigns or is terminated by the District President with the approval of the District Board of Directors.

  • Society tenure: None required.
  • Previous offices: None required but publication/editor experience helpful.
  • A desire to serve the Johnny Appleseed District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Willing to attend District functions such as COTS, Apple Corps, District Convention, Spring Prelims, etc.

Duties:

  • Serve as the editor of the Johnny Appleseed District publication, the Cider Press.
  • Publish the Cider Press on a timely schedule that is normally event driven.
  • Edit, format and compile the Cider Press based on input from district management personnel as well as other district members and using software provided by the JAD.
  • Use creativity to structure and improve the "look and feel" of the Cider Press.
  • Work with the official district photographer and staff to obtain photographs and related documentation for each issue.
  • Submit an annual budget request to the DVP M&PR that is reflective of the Cider Press publication schedule.
  • Work with District VP of Marketing and Public Relations to stay current concerning Society and District programs.
  • Submit expense vouchers in a timely manner to the DVP M&PR.
